Bulls-EYE Robotics: July 5 - 23
Bulls-EYE Robotics is a 5 week STEM mentoring initiative for rising 6th-8th graders. Robotics concepts are taught in parallel with life skills in a hands-on environment where students build relationships, confidence, and enhanced technical abilities.
This robotics program is unique because participants are taught life skills and technical skills concurrently. Life skills are tools used for personal development and include goal setting, resource management, decision making, and ability to build upon success. Technical skills include robotic design, hardware, software, and an end of program project. Analogy between life skills and technical skills is believed to improve mentee understanding of robotics concepts and to the development of strategies for future success.
Participants will learn about the engineering design process through activities that will require them to build robotics systems. Activities will be completed in teams that consist of one mentor and two mentees.
For the 2021 camp a special format will be used that is online only due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
